I really like these moody mauve sunsets. This picture was taken about five minutes down the road from the one below on the same night. I think that´s one of the things I like best about sunsets. They never do the same thing twice and they change every second. (20 K)

There´s a Star Filter that you can buy for the Kodak DC120 Digital Zoom Camera that will add that "star" effect to things like candle flames, but somehow I managed to get the effect without the filter. Believe me, there was no skill involved here. It was pure luck! (14 K)

I´ve seen lots of rainbows in my life and I loved them all. But, whether they were a normal artifact of Nature, or those I made for my children with the garden hose, all the rainbows that I had ever seen were arcs - the kind from whence come myths of pots of gold. Until today, when I turned the corner into the back parking lot on my way into work, I had never seen a rainbow totally contained in a cloud. I thought at first that I was seeing things, but if I was, then my camera was having the same hallucination. And, as you can tell from that huge industrial chimney, it wasn´t a small hallucination either. (37 K)

This might not be the most spectacular sunset I´ve ever seen in my life, but it´s the best one I´ve seen in the three weeks since I´ve had this camera. (37 K)

Some days the sky seems to be tucked in close all around you and it looks as if the clouds are scraping the treetops. (53 K)And then other days, it just seems to go on forever, as if it was bigger and, somehow, unreachable. (26 K)

What can you possibly say about a pretty sunset? Sigh! All you can really do is stop whatever you´re doing and watch, silently urging it to get better and better. Is there such a thing as an ugly sunset? I don´t think so. Some are just more exhuberant than others. I´m still waiting for that really spectacular one that I can capture with this wonderful new toy. Then I can come here to enjoy it again and again.
