His name is Friday the 13th.. because he´s all black and he was born on Halloween in 1992. He´s huge, at 17 pounds, and very lazy. As much as I´ve tried, I´ve never been able to convince him that he´s an inside cat and he still tries to sneak out every time someone comes to the door. But he´s good company and a great mouser.. a good trait until he actually catches one and starts playing with it in the house, and then I´m not too sure about that. But it´s better than mice in my kitchen so I just try to convince him to take them outside. Unfortunately, he only wants to go outside when I don´t want him to. Actually, he´s sorta like a kid that way. (23 K)

My oldest daughter, who was never fond of cats until she met Friday, wanted to see something besides the back of him looking out the window (which is one of his favorite things to do, since he´s rarely allowed out there). So I tried to wake him from his nap. When he didn´t answer to his name, I called him Fat Cat which got his attention, and earned me that insulted glare.

I´m really not sure which I hate worse, mice in my house, or my cat when he catches them. I´m glad that he keeps them all under control and I don´t ever have to worry that the mice have been walking on the kitchen counter... but when he´s prancing about the house with a mouse in his mouths, well, it´s just sooooooooo gross! And it´s really hard to convince him that I actually do want him to take his victim outside. He doesn´t seem to give much credence to a master who is kneeling on the back of the sofa waving throw pillows at him. It turns out that the flash (after three tries) had the desired effect and I was able to lock him outside with his conquest (phew!). (31 K)
