DJ´s Digital Darkroom

Yeah, I know.. the aliteration is awful.. but this is my space and if I want to be silly, I can. One thing I did that wasn´t silly was to spend all the money I did to buy the best digital camera I could possibly afford. I researched for months (while I saved my pennies) and I kept coming back to the Kodak DC120 as just the best digital camera that was out there. That was back in 1997 and I´m still thrilled with my choice!

If it wasn´t for the fact that I´d always wanted to take great pictures and have never been able to cope with all the dials on a 35 mm camera, I would never have considered it, but I was sure that because it was "digital", that would somehow help. But, if it wasn´t for the flowers that my daughter and grandchildren sent me for Mother´s Day that year (May, 1997), I´d probably still be thinking about it... and still trying to talk myself out it. But the flowers were just so beautiful, and I couldn´t stand the thought of them dying in a week or so and having nothing to remember them by but the card that came with them. So I did it! I picked up the phone and called MacWarehouse and said, "I want it now! Puh-leeease!" and the nice folks at Airborne Express delivered my new toy the very next day.

I had had it just over a week and had taken over 400 pictures and three years later that number is up close to 7,000. Don´t panic! I´m not going to make you look at ALL of them. And I won´t put them ALL on one page either. I won´t even put the full size ones up. I´ll make nice neat categories and each page will have thumbnails just big enough to let you decide if you want to see the full size picture. But I hope you´ll have the time to look at some of the larger ones -- the thumbnails are nice, but they just don´t tell the whole story. I´ll always include the height and width in my code, too, so the text will load quickly and you can read while you wait for all the thumbnails to load.

All you have to do is wander around and enjoy yourself. Oh, yes, you should also remember that all of these pictures are mine!! Please don´t take them without asking. If you really must have one of them for something or other, please ask me first. If it´s just for your own enjoyment, I´ll surely say yes, but if it´s for some commercial endeavor.. well, we´ll see. It was a pretty expensive camera...

Are you ready? Okay! Close the digital darkroom door so none of the dark gets out and click on any picture below to take you to lots more of the same. If you want to see everything, start with the first category and just use the arrow at the bottom to work your way through the whole album.

These are the flowers that started it all. Thanks guys! I loved the flowers! And I love y´all!!
The Flowers

There are such beautiful scenes wherever you look in my little corner of New York State and I try not to miss seeing any of them. I´d love to photograph all of them!
Landscapes

Birds, chipmunks, squirrels, deer, and more.. all can be found if you just take the time to look. I know where to look. My problem will be getting them to pose.
Wildlife

The only clouds I never want to see again are those preceeding a tornado. All the rest are beautiful to me and all have always been fair game for my paintbrush. Now I can capture them with my camera too.
Skies and Sunsets

Wonderful things that grow in the wild will always remind me of my childhood walks in the woods. There was always something new to discover. There still is!
Wildflowers

My garden is small, but I make the most of it. Someday I´ll spend my summers growing all the flowers I don´t have room for here. But for now, this is more than enough to keep me busy.
My Garden

Finally, you´ll get to see some of the many crafts that I´ve tried over the years. The next time it rains and I can´t get out into the garden, I´ll scrounge through the closets to see what I can photograph, but for now my quilts will have to do.
Crafts

Unnecessary stuff, but my grandkids in Florida enjoy seeing how I´ve changed things around here at home. Maybe you will too. It will also let me share photos of family that are nearby with those who are far away.
Home and Family

Since I spend so much time there and there are so many neat things in the area to photograph, I have to have a section for work-related stuff. I promise it won´t be boring.
Around Work

Anything that doesn´t fit into any of the other categories will end up here. Besides, what´s a web page without the obligatory cat?
