No. Not the painting. That´s there to remind me that winter will come again someday, I just know it! I meant that David made me do this page! He´s a wonderfully warm, fun friend I write to a lot (a real lot) and he pestered me for weeks; urging, encouraging, and even needling (just a teeny bit) to get me to come out from behind my dry old work-related Web pages and do something personal. Said that any Webmaster worth her salt should have her own site. So, here it is! And since he made me do it, I thought he might as well get credit for it right up front.
| The Art Gallery |
That said, now what? You´ve already seen the best of my art work. If you think that´s not the best, you can stop in at The Art Gallery, but take my word for it, that one is the best of the bunch. An art critic told me that painting is "cold" which I thought was exactly what I had in mind when I painted it, so I took it as a compliment, but something tells me he didn´t mean it that way. | The Art Gallery |
| Who is DJ |
I suppose, before I proceed with making a complete fool of myself for the entire world, I should tell you something about myself. My name is DJ and I can usually be found in the vicinity of a computer (preferably Unix and Macintosh systems - sorry, PC folk but until someone writes you an operating system more stable than Windows, I´m afraid PCs won't make my list of favorites). Anyway, I´m a mother of three, grandmother of five, single female, with no life. That´s because I work in academia, at New York University to be precise, as a system and network administrator. | Who is DJ |
| Tell Me More |
I´m basically bright, or so I´ve been told, but I have an incredible ability to be really dense at times. I tend to be naive (but I like it that way - I think all this in-your-face sex stuff takes the mystery out of the whole deal). I´m proud of my accomplishments, especially the kids and grand-kids, and I love to try new things. Unfortunately, once I´ve decided that I actually "can" do something, I quickly lose interest and move on to something else. This is most noticeable when you open closets in my home; they´re full of everything required for dozens of arts and crafts projects. My only interest that has never fallen by the wayside in nearly thirty years is computers. | Tell Me More |

| The Computer Room |
If it´s a Unix or Macintosh system, I´m just happy as a clam to spend all my time in front of it. If you´re interested in my views on the best and the worst of the computer world, be sure to stop back. You´ll be able to find out what I prefer and why and it will all be based on many years of hands-on experience. Everything will be said in a calm, logical, and sensible manner. It has to be, because that´s how I am. | The Computer Room |

| Arts and Crafts |
I suppose it´s not fair to just mention that I´ve done all those arts and crafts things without actually telling you about them, so this is where I´ll do that. Maybe, I´ll even include a photo or two; at least of those living in the boxes nearest the front of the closets, or good enough to remain on display around the house. There´s lots more planned for this section, but for now, you can see some of my work in the Crafts section of DJ´s Digital Darkroom below.
There are lots of crafty people here on the Internet so I'´ll try to point you at some of the crafters I´ve been especially impressed with. Maybe you´ll even become inspired to try crafting yourself. It´s great therapy. |

| The Blue Funk Café |
OK, enough of that. It´s time to get back to the serious business of looking silly. How about some funky poetry? If you thought The Art Gallery was bad experience, just wait ´til you visit The Blue Funk Café. You know the kind of place I mean; lights down low, teeny tiny tables, lousy service, and that guy on the stool in the spotlight reading really bad verse that only its author is listening to. I can highly recommend the Irish Coffee; but you´ll have to decide on the poetry for yourself. Just remember, I warned you! | The Blue Funk Café |
| I Think Therefore I Am |
I´ve been called lots of strange things over the years. Most of them were probably meant to inspire me into falling into line with the rest of the world, so of
course I took them as compliments. They noticed!
I just don´t do things the way most people do. And that´s the way I like it. I´m glad I hear a different drummer. Don´t believe me? I offer my proof. |

| DJ´s Digital Darkroom |
I finally did it! I´ve been drooling over digital cameras since I saw the first one a couple of years ago. I loved the whole idea, but I really wasn´t happy with the resolution. If I wanted fuzzy pictures, all I had to do was keep using a traditional camera -- I was a pro at taking fuzzy pictures. But, no more! I´ve waited all my life to take pictures this good. This Kodak DC120 Digital Camera and I were absolutely made for each other. | DJ´s Digital Darkroom |

| Links Links Links |
What would a personal page be without a listing of your favorite links? Everybody´s got to have these. Did you ever notice that you can tell a awful lot about a person by looking at the pages they save links to. Are you back now from editing out that link to the nude women? Are you paying attention again?
Now, if my links could talk, the one word they´d probably say is eclectic. I´ve saved links to everything from computer generated maps you can customize to a newsgroup on Legos. You can see them in two forms. There´s the edited-for-sanity version of my Really Best Favorites with my comments on each link. Then, there´s the live link to my actual Unix .netscape-bookmarks file as it lives, breathes, and grows, complete with the junk at the bottom that I never seem to have time to put into a proper category. |

That'´s it for now folks. Are you happy, David? Or are you very sorry you ever suggested this? Now may I go back to just answering e-mail?
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your visit. It was fun making this site and I hope I made you smile. If you´d like to write, please do! Just don´t bother with flames (that´s where you tell people how much you hate their stuff.) Flames are rude! They are the one thing I hate most in the computer world (even more than Windows) and I will not answer flames! But I will answer everything else. It may take me a week to do it, while I think up just the right things to say... but I will answer!!![]()
Well, will you look at what I won! I think that´s just the neatest thing... right up there with all the nice mail that I get from folks who let me know that my silliness made them smile. Thanks to all of you who take the time to write, and to the folks who voted me these most appreciated awards!
